EDUCATION FOR ALL

Innovating education systems

Education empowers people to develop knowledge and skills that nurture new ideas and technologies. Education therefore is a catalyst for broader change, and critically important for driving progress towards sustainable development.

The United Nations reports that, despite the considerable progress on education access and participation over the past years, more than 50% of children and adolescents are not meeting minimum proficiency standards in reading and mathematics.

Access to new technologies should provide the education sector with the means to innovate education systems and expand the access to better quality education for all. What matters even more is how innovative technology is used in the classroom by teachers to facilitate and encourage student learning beyond simple knowledge acquisition, and nurture a culture that values learning.

Education technologies at the G-STIC conference

A first selection of market-ready integrated technological solutions

During the conference, we will review and debate a first selection of market-ready integrated technological solutions that can lead to a major impact on the achievement of the education-related SDGs, in close interaction with the audience, panel members and keynote speakers. These solutions tackle multiple sustainable development challenges across disciplines and sectors and take the environmental, social and economic dimensions of these challenges into account.

Bring your perspective to the discussions

Join the semi-plenary session – November 22, 14:00 – 15:15

The semi-plenary session on November 22 will identify and select clusters of market-ready integrated technological solutions to tackle the ‘Education for all’ and lifelong learning societal challenges. During this semi-plenary session, keynote speakers will exchange best practices about how to transform through technological innovation learning environments, and how to accelerate such innovation through new regulation, public procurement, and policy measures. Panel and audience members will give their views and opinions during the subsequent panel discussion.

A library of breakthrough transformative technologies

The process supported by the semi-plenary session and the deep dives is to deliver a living library of breakthrough transformative technologies to tackle the ‘Education for all’ and lifelong learning societal challenges and achieve the SDGs, illustrated with best practices and inspiring examples. This library is indispensable for policymakers developing Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) roadmaps for the SDGs, while captains of industry can use this library for exploring new business opportunities.
